ONE
DAY

In just one day, life can change forever.

One day they shot our neighbour's child.
One day my husband left the house and never returned. I was alone with the children.
One day I found my wife lying on the ground. She had been shot. All I could do was cover her with a blanket.

Every day, people across the world are forced to flee their homes, losing the safety and connectivity that home provides.

Those who must leave their country in search of safety become refugees.

Life is different. Life is more challenging.

One's life and one's rights are now something one has to fight for. Nothing can be taken for granted.

But things will get better. One day.

One day I will be a citizen of a country.
One day I hope the war will end in my country.
One day I will no longer have to chop wood for a living.

There are millions of one day stories...

20 June is World Refugee Day. It's a day when we celebrate the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee.
